A Discussion of All Things Brown

Brown Pundits is one of the longest-running English-language blogs on South Asia, the subcontinent’s diaspora, and the civilisational questions that neither region nor diaspora has finished answering.

We are not a news site. We are not a think tank. We are a place where the Indian Subcontinent argues with itself in public, at length, and without supervision.

Founded by Razib Khan, Dr. Omar Ali and X.T.M, it has been running for over fifteen years and has accumulated nearly four thousand posts across genetics, geopolitics, history, music, theology, film, and the India-Pakistan argument that never quite resolves.

Our writers are academics, professionals, and intellectuals connected to the Indian Subcontinent by birth, descent, or obsession. Our politics are varied. Our standards are not. We dislike fake news, lazy thinking, and discourse that generates heat without light.

What you will find here: serious long-form writing, contentious comment threads, original research, cultural criticism, and a genetics archive that has no peer in South Asian popular publishing.

We are indexed by Google News. We have been read by heads of government, academics, and taxi drivers. We do not know which of those we are proudest of.

If you want to write for us, add value in the comments first. We will find you.

Namaste. Adaab. Ji ayaan noon.
